Tourism in Zijpe is lately on the rise again. The Dutch coast is of course a classic attraction, not only for the Dutch, but also for Belgians and Germans. But our coast is even different. More and more tourists come and discover the untouched coasts of Petten and Callantsoog because only here the ordinary coastal tourism is combined with the beautiful flower fields in spring.
Along the North Sea coast there are many urbanized coastal towns. Hotels in flats, sprawling neighborhoods full of holiday houses, busy boulevards: this is what a large part of the coast looks like nowadays. But not so in Zijpe. Callantsoog is the busiest resort, but even here no flats. Petten and Sint-Maartenszee are still rural villages. There are lots of nature, lots of space - and there are flower bulb fields. For modern tourism you should come to Zijpe.
Flower bulbs Tulpenland
The flower bulb fields are a real gem. From late March until early summer, the beautiful colors can be seen. Apart from the dunes Zijpe is flat, so you can look as far as you want. And of course there’s Fluwel’s Tulpenland, beautifully situated between all flower bulb fields. This park is an asset of the Zijpe tourism. It's always spring here. The young and the old relaxe here and discover new things. It is close to the nice restaurants of Petten and St. Maartenszee.
Trips in Zijpe
Tourism has many faces in Zijpe. In fine weather, the beach is by far the most popular destination. Tulpenland is always bustling then as well. But the area has more to offer. The charming town of Schagen, for example. In the summer there is “West Frisian folklore” every Thursday, with a great parade and a large market. There are some nice restaurants in Schagen. In the weekend, young people enjoy this cosy town’s nightlife.
The trip which of course we like to talk about is a day trip to Tulpenland. The flower bulbs play a big part in tourism in the Zijpe. If the bulb fields are gone, you can still go to Tulpenland. Until October spring stays with us! On our site you will find all the information you need. Tulpenland, that’s a different kind of tourism!
